meeting with the investigators right now. at 6:00 p.m., more on the investigation. robert handa, ktvu channel 2 news. >> the mother does not want to talk to reporters right now but the hospital said the girl is doing very well. >> medical assessment is complete. she is in good condition. all indicators are excellent. >> little gabriela quintero was taken to the hospital when police found her in the abandon jeep. she appeared calm and in good health. the hospital said the girl was discharged to her mother before 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. an hour ago. again the investigation is not over and police are still looking for the person who stole the jeep. san jose police say the suspect is a white woman in her 30s wearing a dark top and pants and with dark hair in a bun. she was carrying a target shopping bag. there is a target store nearby but that store was not open at the time. ktvu channel 2 news is staying in touch with police as they search for the suspect. follow us on twitter where we will tweet any updates including an arrest in the se. >>> good samaritans tried to help victims of a

this injury does not have a motive. ktvu channel 2 morning news has learned that the suspect who died is a person of interest in a homicide. police say they opened fire on the come side after they tried to ram a police car. police have not remained. a homeless man killed by police pointed an object at them they believed was a gun. it turned out to be some sort of metal cool and the man led police on pursuit. >>> they are looking for a truck that i say has been robbed twice since january. the most recent incident was when thieves drove a forklift into the yard and stole in which as of excess of 5,000 dollars. >> surveillance video captured this and anybody with information is asked to call police. >>> now the town's park's commission is drug new regular layings to walk just six dogs at a time. they are considering putting up signs in open space area. >>> and they are now behind the super bowl and they are including a long list with recommendations and not everybody is happy that a multi- million dollar businesslike the nfl would get financial breaks. >> why is a non-profit, $9 billion

shooting in hayward. ktvu channel 2 reporter tara moriarty joins us from hayward with more on this possible connection. tara. >> reporter: this is where police say that an innocent bystander could have been killed in a drive by shooting. right now police are looking at surveillance video from that gas station to see if it provides more clues. authorities believe the suspect involved in this shooting is who led them on a child chase just hours later. our cameras caught the high speed chase north on 880 through oakland late last night. police tried to pull the driver over in hayward just after 11:00 for a dui in reckless driving. the car ended up spinning out of control. police cars smashed into it to box the driver in and arrest him. officers say people in the car were throwing things out on to the roadway. they never found thosements but officers did find weapons inside the vehicle when they finally stopped. >> they pursued the vehicle all the way into oakland where it crashed on its own. the three occupants were taken to custody from there. >> reporter: police believe those three

, this is ktvu channel 2 news at noon. >> help is on the way. an effort to make the votes of oakland safer, it is the top story. good afternoon, i am tori campbell. the oakland police department graduate its first academy of police officers in 4 years today, brian flores is live in oakland to explain how this may make the streets safer. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon, the goal certainly is to make the streets safer in oakland. as you mentioned the first graduating class since november of 2008, not only a big day for them but also for the families who have sacrificed so much. this is the city's 166th police academy class, 38 officers graduated today, including two from vallejo, the class marks the first of many things, for one the first class under police chief howard jordan and mayor jean kwan and the first diverse class in its history, out of the graduating class 11 different language including those. the chief says it marks a turning point for them and this new class is meant to do that, and he hopes that. he does say this class has boosted the department's morale. >>

, i'm tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> this morning, we're tracking an investigation into the shooting death of an elderly man in vallejo. ktvu's alex savidge has been there since 4:30 this morning. where was the victim found and what have you heard about witnesses? >> reporter: well, there are some witnesses, dave. vallejo police this morning -- at this point, are not talking about who the witnesses are or what they may have seen. vallejo police are not saying why this elderly man may have been targeted. but we do know that he was found about 5:30 last night inside a detached garage at a home on the 400 block of hichborn street on the west side of the city. that garage had apparently been converted into a livivi space. we saw homicide detectives gathering evidence there late into the night last night. now, the victim's name in this case is not being released because his family has yet to be notified. we're working with the sergeant to try to get an update on the investigation. this was vallejo's sixth homicide of the year so far. it'ss about listen a very busy month. they've
